This is a terrific energy drink that will load you up with nutrients pre or post run.
Cocoa Chia Shake
Ingredients
16 oz soy milk (I use Silk)
1 banana
1/4 cup frozen berries (boysenberries or blueberries are really good)
1/2 Tbs chia seeds (or 3 Tbs chia gel*)
1 Tbs soy protein (I use Whole Foods Soy Protein with Spirulina)
1 tsp baking cocoa (I prefer Green & Black Organic)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
dash of cardamon
dash of ginger
Instructions
Mix all but mint in blender, pour, and garnish with mint.
*To make chia gel, use a ratio of 9 to 1 – nine times liquid to the amount of chia seeds (chia seeds can hold nine times their weight of liquid). Let sit for at least 15–30 mins., though to get the full benefit of all the enzymes locked in the seeds, let sit for 12 hours.
